i fought for him my whole life despite torture, abuse, anguish, i still pressed on in his name
and still my enemies, enemies of god, were allowed to prevail, to take my lands, to sever my head as the sun rose over the hills

Though the mortals that serve him experience similar things they're foolish enough to call them trials, believing that he is 'testing' them.
