saintguillotine: (My heart within me is overwhelmed)

[Hard to be frightened when you're being held by a bulky, six foot six man who can effortlessly lift entire beds (something the orphans regularly witnessed, due to how prone they were to losing things under them).

He's made something of a life here, but he still misses Rome, his orphanage, his children. He was such a regular fixture in so many of their lives that he has to wonder how they manage without him. He hadn't considered how it would impact them, when forfeiting his life. A desire to escape, to serve God with his final breaths had suffused everything.

He hand drifts to Alucard's ear, scratching behind it.]

She was something of the sort, yes. While Heinkel, well... sometimes I would find Heinkel in Yumiko's bed, but I suspect that was for Yumiko's benefit rather than the other way around. They were always inseparable.

[He's glad they have each other, he thinks. Ignorance is bliss.

His smile twitches and widens before he continues.]

And speaking of children, a certain little girl is very eager to meet Baskerville. She has a dentist appointment coming up, so I'm considering dropping into the apartment after and letting her take Baskerville for a walk on the beach. You're welcome to accompany us, if you aren't busy next Tuesday.

[Just in case Alucard wanted more domesticity in his life.]

[Anderson has to laugh at the lolling of Alucard's tongue. Those ears scratches are good, clearly. He moves to the opposite ear, leaning his cheek into Alucard's fur as Alucard slumps into him.]

Her appointment is at eleven, and I expect that won't take long. We'll probably arrive around eleven forty or so.

[For a six-eyed dog, Alucard is oddly cute. It's hard to resist the urge to cuddle and pet him. In fact, Anderson's not resisting the urge at all, since Alucard doesn't seem to mind either the pets or cuddles.

He makes a thoughtful sound.]

As an aside, I've noticed the children don't like the water, like the rest of the natives here, but they're less wary than the adults. Perhaps the natives fear of it is learned.

[That heavy head is pinning him to the mattress, and he's fine with it. It's comfortable, lying like this.

To Alucard's comments regarding the beach, he makes another thoughtful sound. He's stepped into the water himself. As far as he can tell, there's nothing immediately amiss about it.]

There might be repercussions for straying too close to the water? Or if they take a dip, perhaps a Wicked Witch of the West occurs?

[Forgive his wording; some of the children in Rome liked that movie.]

One of these days, we ought to throw a LIEs employee in there, see what happens.

[He could do that dumb, dog smile that looks vaguely guilty, but in their current position, Anderson wouldn't be able to appreciate it anyway.]

Oh? You'll make them think they accidentally fell across thirty or so feet of sand, through the shallows, and into the deep of the water? Truly, it's an infallible plan.

[He's teasing, obviously in a good mood.

He lets his hand stroke idly down Alucard's back while he speaks again.]

Making them think they fell in one of those ponds in the Up might work.

[Anderson barks a laugh (moderately less bark-y than Alucard's actual bark). They're both truly awful men.]

I've noticed anything that washes out to sea eventually ends up back on the beach. No body retrieval required.

[He rakes his fingers down Alucard's spine, since he seems to enjoy it.]

Of course, we could always tie them into a sack full of bricks before throwing them in.

[Enjoy that awful reference to the murder of anabaptists.]

I don't doubt it. They've ensured this place is well isolated.

[Apparently there is a means of getting to a place called Veracity, but that location hasn't been made available to them yet, assuming it ever will be.

He gives a wry smile at Alucard's comment.]

I wouldn't be opposed. I want to say we're fighting Eris, in spirit, but as we have actual figures from mythology here, it doesn't quite work. We assigned Millennium Mars, if you're curious.

[The 9th Crusade didn't quite work out, but hey... it was a good effort.]

And you know perfectly well we can't, as much as I might like to.
